What is Sacro Occipital Technic?

Sacro Occipital Technic is referred to as SOT® Methods and is essentially all of chiropractic technique and knowledge wrapped up into a comprehensive systematic approach to correcting the body’s dysfunctions. It is undoubtedly the most advanced form of practicing chiropractic. True SOT® Methods doctors are whole body doctors with a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology and neurology, which allows them to troubleshoot some of the most difficult cases as well as help patients reach optimal levels of health.

SOT® Methods was developed through decades of clinical research. It entails utilizing neurological indicators to diagnose and correct dysfunction.  An SOT® Methods doctor looks at the entire body at once to determine all of the pieces of the puzzle that may be involved, what sequence to use to correct the system, and by which methods.

SOT® Methods adjusting techniques include very soft adjusting methods specific to SOT® Methods and can also incorporate any technique seen elsewhere in chiropractic. Examples of adjustments specific to Sacro Occipital Technic include a side posture adjustment done in a way that protects the sacro-iliac joint from damage and reduces rotation which can irritate the lumbars, a soft method of treating ruptured discs, and neck adjustments that do not involve any “cracking.”

Taught by SORSI, SOT® Methods doctors are thinking doctors. Their knowledge, comprehensive approach and complete methods are what makes them exceptional. SORSI perpetuates the research and teaching of SOT® Methods to chiropractors and offers certifications. These credentials include Basic Certification, Advanced Certification, and Craniopathic Certification. Each level of qualification requires that a minimum number of hours in SORSI education be reached, a minimum number of years using the techniques in practice, and examinations proving competency. Certified SOT® Methods practitioners are dedicated to a lifetime of learning. The results of well-executed SOT® Methods are often extraordinary and uncommon compared to the average chiropractic practice.
